ABOUT THE CRUISE

THE 1st and 2nd ANNUAL CRUISE FOR CIARAN.

The second event took place on May 30th, 2015 from 11am-4pm in Courtenay B.C.

Registration took place between 9:30-10:30am. This events' mission was to bring attention to both driver awareness and rider safety involving the use of longboards/bicycles, etc for transportation and how to respectively share the road. We also educated youth and adults alike, in regards to the use of helmets "DON'T BE A FOOL, HELMETS ARE COOL!!" and reflective gear "BE SAFE, BE SEEN".  We did provide reflective "Cruise for Ciaran" DECALS for the back of everyones helmets.

We also provided a number of helmets to those in need.

NO HELMET=NO PARTICIPATION while riding anything with wheels ie. longboards, scooters, roller blades, bicycles, etc. in the Cruise... you are though, welcome to use your feet and be a walker... there will be many of those as well.

We also helped raised awareness in regards to organ donation and familiarized youth and adults alike with BC Transplant and their services.

The "Cruise for Ciaran" encompassed a 5km loop beginning and ending at the Lewis Centre, Courtenay BC. At this time, we gathered together to remember our son, brother, grandson, uncle and friend, Ciaran... and to reflect on who he was, what his dreams were and how much he loved life, loved the world and everything in it, and that he has gone too soon. We had speakers bringing awareness to the above issues, while sharing in some of Ciarans favorite foods...cheese/buns and peppermint tea. We had media coverage, as well as RCMP involved on this day.

"Ciaran's Heart" necklaces, T-shirts, silicone bracelets and reflective lanyards, etc, were for sale.

"Ciaran's legacy" bags, including a drink, snack and various reflective items were given to each participant at registration.

Pledge sheets were available online May1st, 2015

Every $10 worth of pledges got you one ticket entry into the grand prize draw for a longboard, helmet and a 2 hour longboard safety instruction certificate.

Thank you to everyone who participated
